Royal Australian Army Chaplains Department
Army chaplaincy is a unique capability that recognises people are the centre of all that we do within Army. Chaplains care for our soldiers and their families through person-centred holistic support that respects the individual’s world view, faith affiliation or belief system. Chaplains are committed to stand beside soldiers and their families regardless of the challenges they face or the environment they are in. Indeed, Army Chaplains live the same military lifestyle of those they support.
Army chaplains come from Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Islamic and Jewish faith traditions and the support they provide includes pastoral care, religious ministry, spiritual guidance, provision of advice and character formation. The foundational role for chaplains is to bring support to all, hope to those in distress, comfort to the sick and honour to the dead.
